• Welcome to all mamas!

    For all the moms who are seeking connection and camaraderie in what may seem like a lonely season of life. We meet once a month for an evening that we like to call our “Mother Culture Night”.

    What is Mother Culture?
    Taking time to invest in ourselves is so important- to make sure we are being filled up so that we can go home refreshed and ready to pour into our families. This is what we call Mother Culture. If you are overwhelmed and at your wits end, let us rally around you, encourage and pray for you. If you are filled up and feeling healthy at this particular season, come ready to bless and encourage.

    Are children allowed?
    Our Mother Culture evenings are designed to be child free with the exception of nursing babes. We truly hope you’ll be able to join us!

    Oh no- not another book to read! There is no required reading- all you have to do is come! This is not a house church or a book club. It is simply a gathering of mamas to build community and encourage one another.

    Who organizes and leads this group?
    While Carlen Hagenkotter is the organizer/administrator of the group, this is a group that we all take ownership of. We take turns leading, sharing our stories, pouring out our hearts, and we rotate bringing food. We have an ongoing sign up and love plugging each mama in wherever she feels led to add to the group!

  • Process

    Is there a rhythm to the evening?
    Yes! The evening usually lasts for a couple of hours. We hang out, eat and drink and catch up with each other briefly for the first 20 minutes or so. Next, we gather in the living room or around a table to hear one of our own share from her life and heart. We sometimes break out into smaller groups to discuss what we learned and close out the evening with praying for one another. Some will linger for a little longer while most will call it a night. It’s a beautiful time!

    We do ask for a volunteer each month to share from their life in what we call "The Hot Seat"- it's NOT scary, we promise!! The Hot Seat is simply a time to share with the group a little more about yourself and share various aspects of your personal story in order to offer a feeling of transparency and reality as you walk out your Christianity in your home, family and the world around you. We have ALL struggled and we have ALL wrestled to find hope and strength during tough circumstances that life takes us through. We believe that the deeper we get to know each other, the more love and sisterhood we find in each other as we walk together through our journeys of life and motherhood. Hearing each other's stories adds so much richness to our time together.

    Our monthly group gatherings are facilitated in an intentionally closed format meaning that anything shared here STAYS here! We work very hard to create a safe space where all of our mamas can be open, honest and real so that we can effectively support each other.

    When do you meet?
    We usually meet the 2nd Thursday of each month from 7-9pm

    Where do you meet?
    We meet at the home of Laura and Joe Williams in South Tampa. Their address is 2525 Bayshore Blvd., Tampa.

    PARKING INSTRUCTIONS: It may be easier to just map the location to Bayshore Presbyterian Church, since that is where you will be parking! Park along the wall- their gate is connected to the parking lot there. Go through the gate, walk along the backs of all the units until you come to her unit #2525. When you get there, just come on in up the stairs to the main living area! A massive THANK YOU to Laura and Joe for opening her beautiful home and wining and dining us. What a gift they are to us!

    How does the group communicate?
    Our primary means of communication is through our Facebook page. (For those who regularly attend, we have a private online group outside of Facebook where we share prayer requests and sometimes other more personal dialogue throughout the month.) If you are not on Facebook, please confirm with someone in the group that is, before showing up OR email to confirm at kindred@watermarktampa.com. Although rarely, sometimes our evening will get changed to a different night and we would hate for you to show up on the wrong night!
